Well, it’s IPL season and everyone is excited about it. Everyday excitement doubles and takes us closer to the team who’ll win IPL10. Being a supporter of Kings XI Punjab, I can’t afford to miss even a single match. I was there at Holkar Stadium to see the Kings #RedefiningVictory. On April 10th was the 2nd match of #ToughXI and again, they made it!
While Royal Challengers Bangalore recorded victories in both matches played against Kings XI Punjab last year, They won the first match at Mohali by one run and recorded a 82-run win in the second match at Bangalore. But this time it wasn’t the case!
We all were waiting for Gayle, AB de Villiers and Kohli but to our surprise 2 of them were not playing today. So the players who played were:
Kings XI Punjab: Hashim Amla, Manan Vohra, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Axar Patel, Glenn Maxwell(c), David Miller, Marcus Stoinis, Mohit Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan, Varun Aaron
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Shane Watson(c), Mandeep Singh, AB de Villiers, Kedar Jadhav, Stuart Binny, Vishnu Vinod(w), Pawan Negi, Iqbal Abdulla, Tymal Mills, Yuzvendra Chahal, Billy Stanlake
RCB won the toss and elected to bat. Soon, the Punjabis showed their awesome bowling skills and Watson was gone down ( b Axar Patel 1 (4)) . This was the Fourth time Axar has dismissed Watson in IPL.
RCB just got 34 runs with the loss of 3 after eight overs. A run-rate of four at the start could prove to be disastrous, but not for RCB. RCB got 80/4 after 16 overs and AB de Villiers completed his 50. It was time to see if he could help the team reach at least 140?
AB de Villiers ends up on 89 (Not Out). RCB finally reached 148/4. Last four overs have yielded 68 runs. This was dazzling entertainment. And the distance of last six was 102 meters, over the roof, out of the stadium!
As the innings ended, I participated in Selfie contest hosted by H R Johnson where the winner gets a chance to win IPL tickets. It was fun! Seeing a lot of participants, I don’t think I would get lucky enough 😀 But you can in the next matches, do check it out if you are there at Holkar Stadium.
Kings were absolutely sure about their win as the target was not too high. Billy Stanlake opens the bowling for RCB and Hashim Amla gets off the mark with a boundary. Amla scores a fifty in the fifth over giving a big advantage to the Kings. As the time passed by, KXIP managed to get 97 with loss of 2 wickets after 10 overs and needed 52 off 60 balls.
Maxwell goes for another six and in the process, goes past 1000 runs in the Indian Premier League. Kings XI Punjab secured an eight-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Hats-off to the heroes!
As the Match ended, the time had come for presenting Man Of The Match and the CEO of H R Johnson was present to award Axar Patel. With the economy of 3 in 4 overs and his fantastic spell of 1/12 he truly deserved it.
